Missleading Holiday Travel Brochures
JANUARY 10TH, 2006
Which? Magazine have just published a report on travel brochures which I don't think will surprise most travellers. A title of 'economical with the truth' would just about sum it up!
Which? sent inspectors throughout October 2005 to resorts in Bulgaria and Spain. They went in search of the truth about holiday travel brochures.
Their searches found hotels which did not mention key details such as busy roads, railways and ongoing building work.
Not only that but their brochures seemed to be misleading bookers by showing pictures of what the hotel would look like when complete. Yet Inspectors often found work which was either unfinished or had been put on hold.
Another key inaccurate detail was regularly the distance from beaches.
The magazine said, "Most of the time, operators don't tell downright whoppers - they're just disingenuously economical with the truth."
We recommend always doing your own research. It could save you money and save your holiday!
There are many ways to do research on a particular hotel. The most popular being to find out what other regular holiday makers thought of the hotel.
It is a great way to get an unbiased review.
The most popular website at present online providing the information for you is Trip Advisor.
Do a search for your hotel and you will likely find reviews from regular travellers and even photos.
I don't think it comes as a surprise to anyone what this report has found. By doing your own research before booking your holiday this year you can make sure you get exactly what you are looking for.
